The group meeting will be a forum for answering questions and help you navigate the unique challenges of researching your German ancestors.. Register Thursday 9 Jan 2025 at 1:00 PM A Norwegian Immigrant's Story Learn the story of abolitionist and Norwegian immigrant Hans Christian Heg as he grew up in his adopted land. Pioneering during uncertain times was a life and death story, sharing both joy and sorrow. He became a Civil War Colonel who died while leading a charge at the Battle of Chickamauga in Georgia.  Once you learn the rest of the story, you can determine if he deserves his statue at the Wisconsin capital. Register Special Notice: Suncoast Genealogy Society Meeting Program Change 25 Jan 2025, 1:30-4:00 PM Dead Men Do Tell Tales:  Recreating Life in a Community Using Death Certificates. Death certificates can tell us a lot about how our ancestors lived and died. When looked at as a group they can also tell us about life and death in their communities. This presentation focuses on an analysis of death certificates from Attleboro, Massachusetts over a five-year period, and shows how they can provide us with a window into the lives of the people who lived there. The program will be presented by Karen Fortin from the Pinellas Genealogy Society. This is a hybrid presentation from the Palm Harbor Library.
