The women of the new colonies didn’t just have to survive the normal hardships of every pioneer, they had to face being accused of witchcraft. Often their accusers were young girls and sometimes family members, but they were always judged by male religious leaders. In this eye-opening presentation, we not only understand the Salem Witch trails, but the history of how these persecutions evolved and are still happening today. Presented by Lori Coffey. |

The Sultana Disaster |
|
A Civil War-era steamboat, overcrowded with POWS returning north, the Sultana exploded and burned on the Mississippi River two days after the Civil War ended. The greatest maritime disaster in US history, more than half of the 2,200 passengers and crew were killed. Overshadowed by the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, the story of this tragic event has been forgotten, until now. Learn this history and the people surrounding it. Presented by Gene Eric Salecker, Sultana Historian. |
