The Pinellas Genealogy Society is pleased to announce its Annual Seminar on 24 February 2024 featuring J. Mark Lowe. You can attend this hybrid event in-person at the Largo Public Library or over the Internet.
The registration fee for PGS members is $35 and for non-members is $40 whether attending in-person or virtually. Box lunches will be available for purchase.
Mark Lowe has been researching families for more than 55 years. He grew up in Tennessee with extensive family roots in Kentucky. He has traveled extensively in both states and enjoys sharing his love of genealogy and the joy of research with others, including some historic re-enacting.
As a researcher and lecturer, Mark enjoys working with genealogical groups and professional organizations. He is a former President of the Association of Professional Genealogists, and the former Vice-President and Secretary of the Federation of Genealogical Societies.
In the process of teaching others, Mark builds his own skills and insight for research. His experience as a Classroom Teacher, Principal, and Professional Researcher provides a different perspective for each research problem. He also currently hosts a YouTube Channel.
During this day-long hybrid event, Mark will give four presentations that will hold something for everyone. The topics are:
- “Ready-Set-Plan! Developing a One-Step Research Plan”
- “Documenting the “Right” Family While Staying on Track”
- “Making Those Early Census Records Talk to You”
- “Finding Your Landless Ancestors”
In addition to Mark’s presentations, two breakout speakers will make presentations during the lunch break.
- Taneya Koonce will speak on “Mapping Heritage & Health: Your Medical Family History”
- Debbie W. Smyth will present “Timelines: A Genealogical Tool for Organization and Analysis.
A conference booklet, including presentation handouts, will be available to all registrants. Those attending online will receive a PDF document.
