Often their accusers were young girls and sometimes family members, but they were always judged by male religious leaders. In this eye-opening presentation, we not only understand the Salem Witch trails, but the history of how these persecutions evolved and are still happening today. Every family’s records are chock full of legal lingo that can appear utterly baffling to even an experienced genealogist. But whether it’s for a family as famous as Daniel Boone’s, or one as ordinary as yours or mine, understanding the legal lingo in the records is a critical part of understanding the records themselves. Register Thursday, 12 Oct 2023 at 1:00 PM Dead Men do Tell Tales-- Reconstructing the life in a community using death certificates Death certificates can tell us a lot about how our ancestors lived and died. When looked at as a group they can also tell us about life and death in their communities. This presentation focuses on an analysis of death certificates from Attleboro, Massachusetts over a five-year period, and shows how they can provide us with a window into the lives of the people who lived there.
